Senior Azure DevOps Engineer
London / Manchester - Hybrid
UBDS group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure DevOps Engineer with a minimum of four years' relevant experience to lead and deliver robust cloud and DevOps solutions across complex environments. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting scalable infrastructure, mentoring junior team members, and driving automation practices that enable efficient and secure deployments for enterprise clients.
Applicants must either hold Security Check (SC) clearance or be eligible and willing to undergo the SC vetting process.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, ensuring security, scalability, and efficiency.
  
• Architect and maintain Azure-based infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
  
• Drive DevOps adoption and automation across multi-disciplinary teams and client engagements.
  
• Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and system reliability improvements.
  
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to capability development.
  
• Ensure adherence to DevSecOps principles and promote continuous improvement across engineering practices.
  Technical Skills:
  
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, covering core services, networking, identity, monitoring, and governance.
  
• Strong proficiency in Azure DevOps tools including Pipelines, Repos, Boards, and Artifacts.
  
• Advanced skills in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (preferred) and ARM templates.
  
• Demonstrable scripting ability using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  
• Strong understanding of containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  
• Solid grasp of security best practices in cloud and pipeline design.
  Experience:
  
• Minimum of 4 years’ hands-on experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering or Cloud Platform Engineering roles.
  
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade DevOps solutions in Agile and hybrid delivery environments.
  
• Experience leading technical design sessions and managing delivery workstreams.
  Certifications (preferred):
  
• Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
  
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
  
• HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.
  Security Clearance:
  
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance.
