Platform Engineer Apprentice

£23,901 per annum - 35 hours per week

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Platform Engineer Apprentice to join our team. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Azure cloud infrastructure, networking, and IT support while working towards a Level 3 qualification.

You’ll help maintain and optimise our cloud and on-premise systems, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.

Apprenticeship Details:

Level 3 IT Solutions Technician (Advanced)

Duration: 17 months

Training provider: LearnTech (remote and on-the-job learning)During this apprenticeship, you will follow a fully supported training programme with LearnTech, delivered through combined weekly remote classroom-based training, workplace assessment/training and online learning working towards completing the IT Solutions Technician standard.

The training covers the following core occupational duties:

Key Responsibilities:

Support Azure cloud infrastructure and on-prem systems

Assist with servers, storage, networking, and SaaS platforms

Help troubleshoot IT and network issues

Support LAN/WAN performance and connectivity

Assist with system patching (e.g. Windows, VMware, Cisco Meraki)

Work with teams to improve systems and automate processes

Document procedures and configurationsEssential Requirements

Basic knowledge or interest in IT infrastructure

Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a team

Commitment to excellent service and Hightown valuesDesirable

Awareness of Microsoft Azure or cloud technologies

Experience with scripting (e.g. PowerShell)

Knowledge of networking or IT support environmentsEntry Requirements

5 GCSEs (Grade 9-4), including English and Maths, or equivalentEligibility

UK/EEA resident for 3+ years
