About the Team

The Applications team within ITS, operates a substantial platform based on circa 100 Kubernetes clusters, combining a large VMWare estate on premises with a growing presence in public cloud.

The Hybrid Cloud Manager will work within the Applications Team in ITS, leading a sub-team of 3 DevOps engineers focused on modernising the way our developers and bioinformaticians deploy applications. This involves building strong internal relationships, both within the IT department and more widely with the teams managing public-facing bioinformatics services.

This role will also oversee the administration of our public cloud estate, where EMBL-EBI runs making sure FinOps processes are in place, enabling cost tracking, forecasting and governance across multi-cloud environments.

The Hybrid Cloud Manager is an essential figure in ensuring efficient balance of on premises and cloud resources, and in addition, a key actor in the delivery of one of the key missions of EMBL: Training.
