With a central London headquarters and regional presence across the UK, the business delivers future-focused workplaces for landlords, co-working operators and end-user clients - creating inspiring spaces that help people do their best work.
As part of a dynamic team of designers, builders, strategists and technologists, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the internal systems that underpin every project, pitch and client experience. This is an opportunity to own and evolve a mission-critical internal platform, influence technical direction, and help scale a high-performing development function.

The Role:
You’ll lead the development, maintenance and optimisation of the company’s core business systems, built in PHP (Laravel) with a PostgreSQL backend, alongside managing several WordPress-based websites. Working closely with stakeholders from across the organisation, you’ll ensure the reliability, performance and evolution of the systems that drive daily operations.

You’ll also help guide the future technical roadmap, support junior developers as the team grows, and take ownership of engineering best practice, system architecture and deployment workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead development and enhancements on internal business systems built with Laravel, PostgreSQL and Azure blobstore.
Provide ongoing maintenance, debugging and performance tuning of applications and web environments.
Deliver technical support to internal users, including managing high-pressure or time-critical issues.
Maintain and evolve WordPress websites (plugins, themes, security hardening).
Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based hosting environments.
Build, deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker.
Configure and maintain Nginx for optimal performance and security.
Support firewall configuration and troubleshooting across APIs, services and repositories.
Manage Git-based version control and enforce workflow best practices (branching, PRs, code reviews, release tagging).
Document architecture, workflows and development processes.
Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to improve system efficiency and interaction.
Contribute to major system upgrades, migrations and new feature rollouts.
Mentor junior developers and support team growth. Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years’ experience in software development with strong PHP (Laravel) and PostgreSQL expertise.
Strong understanding of ERP/CRM system functionality within business environments.
Deep knowledge of Linux systems, shell scripting and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with Docker for development and production environments.
Strong knowledge of Nginx configuration and management.
Understanding of DNS, domain registrars and record configuration.
Experience with firewalls and network security.
Advanced Git workflow experience, including CI/CD pipelines.
MVC architecture, RESTful APIs and modern back-end best practice.
Experience with WordPress development and admin.
Excellent troubleshooting skills across the stack.
Clear, confident communicator — able to engage non-technical users and manage challenging conversations.
Calm and professional under pressure.
Knowledge of Power Platform, PowerApps and data migration tools (ADF, SSMA, SSIS).
Understanding of API integrations and data transfer topologies. Desirable:
Experience within design, construction, architecture, or related built-environment industries.
Experience with Docker orchestration.
Knowledge of front-end frameworks such as React or Vue.
Degree in Computer Science or related field.
Understanding of business workflows from lead generation through project delivery.
A creative, solutions-driven mindset and the ability to inspire confidence in others
