Senior Backend Engineer (Java) | Up to £70k | Remote | E-Commerce
 
We’re currently working with an international e-commerce brand as they look to recruit a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Tech Team. In this role, you will shape high-quality solutions, mentor others, and play a key part in moving their product forward. You will be central to designing scalable systems, championing best practices, and collaborating closely with product managers and stakeholders in a truly agile environment.

What you’ll do

Deliver robust, secure, and scalable backend solutions using Java and open-source technologies
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to shape roadmaps and define solutions that deliver real value
Provide accurate estimates, validate team estimates, and keep projects on track
Guide and mentor developers, fostering collaboration and continuous learning
Support the Tech Lead, ensuring quality across functional, performance, and security requirements
Step in as Tech Lead when needed, supporting planning, team discussions, and project delivery 
What you’ll bring

5+ years’ experience in server-side development with Java, Spring, and related open-source tools
Deep expertise in: Java 21+, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, SQL, Git, Maven, AWS
Strong knowledge of cloud design, scalability, performance, and security best practices
Familiarity with tools like RX Java, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Terraform
Solid grasp of design patterns, web security, and modern development practices
Proven ability to learn fast, solve complex problems, and share knowledge across a team
Passion for building technology that makes a real impact
