Platform Engineer** (Contract)

Duration: 12 Months (Possibility for extension)

Location: Chester/Hybrid (3 days on site)

Rate: A highly competitive Umbrella Day Rate or Salary is available for suitable candidates

Role Overview

As a Technical Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our cloud/container application rollouts, bringing your expertise to enhance our core banking solutions. You will be responsible for onboarding vendor pre-packaged containerized applications onto the OpenShift/Kubernetes platform, ensuring seamless integration and deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

Participate in large-scale cloud/container application rollouts, particularly with vendor solutions like Finacle.
Leverage your knowledge of OpenShift templates, buildconfigs, deploymentconfigs, services, and routes to optimize application performance.
Design, analyze, and troubleshoot large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native microservices-based applications.
Collaborate in Agile teams, employing CI/CD processes and DevSecOps methodologies.
Utilize your Unix/Linux expertise and scripting skills in Bash or Python to enhance system performance.
Communicate technical designs and concepts clearly, supporting platform development and shaping our technical environment.
Exhibit ownership of assigned projects and tasks, ensuring timely and thorough completion.

What We're Looking For:

Extensive experience in technical roles, with a strong emphasis on cloud/container technologies.
Proven experience in onboarding vendor pre-packaged applications onto OpenShift/Kubernetes.
Hands-on expertise with containers, Kubernetes, Apache Tomcat, Redis, RabbitMQ, Node.js, and RESTful APIs.
Familiarity with Oracle PL/SQL coding/debugging and MQ/NDM/SFTP integration.
Strong understanding of version control, continuous integration best practices, and job schedulers (AutoSys preferred).
Knowledge of TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, and cloud services (e.g., Amazon EC2/S3, OpenStack).
Exposure to APM tools like AppDynamics/DynaTrace/Splunk, as well as SDLC automation tools like Jenkins.
Experience with product and service vendors, and the onshore-offshore delivery model.
Understanding of the Wholesale Banking domain, including deposits, payments, and credit management.
