Here at Innovative Technology, we are seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract to design and implement scalable internal systems that empower developers, reduce operational friction, and promote secure-by-default best practices.

You will work across infrastructure, tooling, and developer workflows to build reliable, self-service platforms that scale with the company. This role will be based at our Head Office in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

Your Responsibilities as a Platform Engineer:

Build internal platforms and paved paths that abstract complexity and enable teams to deploy, operate, and monitor their services independently

Codify infrastructure using tools like Terraform or Pulumi to ensure consistency, repeatability, and auditability across environments

Develop and maintain developer tooling and golden templates (CI/CD pipelines, scaffolds, environments) to standardize best practices across teams

Design and implement observability frameworks (metrics, tracing, logging, alerting) that are easy to consume and part of the platform baseline

Eliminate repetitive tasks through automation and opinionated defaults, so teams are not blocked by manual requests or low-level details

Collaborate with engineers to understand common pain points and continuously improve platform usability, reliability, and documentation

Embed security and compliance into platform tooling and workflows so that teams adopt safe patterns by default not by exception

Your Skills & Experience as a Platform Engineer:
