Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a Java Developer to join a dynamic team delivering cutting-edge solutions within the defence and security sectors.

You will play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining the critical backend infrastructure that supports vital services. This is a unique opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects, contributing to real-world impact within a hybrid and flexible working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop robust, scalable backend systems using modern technologies and best practices
Engage in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through to deployment and testing
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product owners, front-end developers, and QA
Mentor and support junior developers to foster team growth and technical excellence

Essential Skills and Experience

Minimum of 2 years' experience in software development with a strong focus on Java backend development and its ecosystem (e.g. Spring Boot, Maven)
Proven ability to design, develop and deploy scalable backend systems
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, deployment technologies and cloud platforms such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS
Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
Experience working in Agile environments is preferred
Must be able to obtain and maintain the highest level of UK Government security clearance
UK citizenship is essential due to security clearance requirements
