Role Purpose
We are creating a senior leadership role — Head of Application Modernisation — to expand and mature our modernisation capability, drive strategic sales, and ensure excellence in delivery. This role is pivotal to TXP’s growth strategy and organisational vision.

The Head of Application Modernisation will lead TXP’s end-to-end modernisation proposition, acting as the senior champion for the practice across sales, solutioning, delivery, capability, and partnerships. You will work closely with Sales, Sector Leads, and Delivery teams to shape and position modernisation solutions that address complex business and technology challenges, particularly within the Financial Services and Public Sectors.

You will be responsible for growing revenue, shaping client solutions, leading strategic engagements, and ensuring the successful delivery of modernisation programmes across our client base. A core part of the role is embedding world-class delivery practices, driving market differentiation, and championing the intelligent use of AI across the practice.

This role blends thought leadership, commercial ownership, and delivery accountability — ideal for a leader who thrives on empowering teams, driving innovation, and making a measurable impact across the organisation.

You will be instrumental in driving TXP’s mission forward, embodying our core values of CARES.
•  Client Focus: Champion a client-centric culture, ensuring that every engagement delivers meaningful, measurable outcomes that advance the client’s strategic goals.
•  Adaptability: Lead the practice through change, shaping and evolving modernisation approaches in response to market trends, emerging technologies, and client needs.
•  Responsibility: Take full ownership of the modernisation practice—its strategy, performance, risk management, and delivery outcomes—while building a culture of accountability.
•  Excellence: Set and uphold the highest standards across solution design, delivery quality, thought leadership, and team capability, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
•  Success: Define success through sustained client trust, high-impact outcomes, repeat business, and long-term value creation for clients and TXP.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Practice Leadership
•  Define and lead TXP’s Application Modernisation strategy, including propositions, service offerings, and market differentiation.
•  Shape and execute the go-to-market strategy for modernisation, with a particular focus on the Financial Services and Public Sector markets.
•  Develop and continually refine value propositions that reflect emerging technologies, client needs, and industry trends.
•  Build a scalable, high-performing modernisation practice spanning architecture, engineering, DevOps, testing, and low-code.

Sales, Solutioning & Commercial Ownership
•  Act as the senior solution leader for all application modernisation opportunities—leading discovery, shaping solutions, and ensuring proposals align with client outcomes.
•  Partner with Sales and Sector Leads to drive pipeline growth, jointly develop propositions, and close strategic deals.
•  Serve as executive sponsor for key modernisation engagements, providing commercial oversight and risk management.
•  Represent the practice in client-facing pitches, executive briefings, and bid presentations.

Delivery Assurance & Client Success
•  Hold ultimate accountability for delivery quality, outcomes, and client satisfaction across all modernisation programmes.
•  Provide governance and assurance across delivery teams (led day-to-day by Head of Development / Delivery Managers).
•  Ensure consistent use of best-practice methodologies including cloud-native architectures, re-platforming, re-architecture, DevOps and Agile.
•  Establish frameworks, accelerators, and delivery models that create repeatable, scalable success.

AI Leadership & Innovation
•  Champion AI-driven modernisation approaches, embedding intelligent automation into assessment, engineering, DevOps, and testing processes.
•  Evaluate and integrate emerging AI platforms, tools, and methods to enhance speed, quality, and efficiency.
•  Develop AI-enabled value propositions that differentiate TXP in the market.
•  Promote the practical use of AI across teams, including code analysis, predictive delivery analytics, intelligent test automation, and requirements processing.

Thought Leadership & Market Positioning
•  Act as the public face of TXP’s modernisation capability at industry events, conferences, and executive client briefings.
•  Produce high-quality thought leadership content (blogs, white papers, frameworks) that shapes market perception.
•  Build strategic partnerships with vendors, cloud platforms, tooling providers, and industry influencers.

Practice Development & Capability Building
•  Build and mentor a high-performing modernisation capability, including architects, consultants, engineers, and DevOps specialists.
•  Shape recruitment plans, career pathways, and competency frameworks for the growing practice.
•  Align nearshore and global delivery structures to provide scalable and cost-effective delivery models.
•  Create a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and client-centric delivery.

Senior Stakeholder Engagement
•  Engage and influence C-level stakeholders—internally and externally—to align modernisation strategies with business priorities.
•  Provide transparent reporting on performance, risk, commercials, and client outcomes.
•  Work collaboratively with the Head of Development, Head of Data, and other practice leads to ensure integrated, end-to-end solutions.

Skill and Experience
  •  Proven leadership of an application modernisation or digital transformation practice, with accountability for proposition development, sales growth, and delivery excellence.
•  Strong track record of achieving and exceeding revenue, margin, and growth targets, ideally within a consulting or professional services environment.
•  Deep expertise in enterprise-scale application modernisation, including re-platforming, re-architecting, cloud-native transformation, legacy remediation, and modern engineering approaches.
•  Extensive consultancy experience, with the ability to engage credibly at C-level, shape complex solutions, and influence strategic client decisions.
•  Demonstrated success in applying AI and intelligent automation across engineering, DevOps, testing, architecture, and delivery processes.
•  Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in business terms.
•  Experience operating across both private and public sectors, with strong familiarity with the Financial Services and Public Sector landscapes and their unique challenges.
•  Commercially astute, outcome-focused leader with a strong understanding of risk, commercials, delivery models, and value creation.
•  15+ years of progressive technology leadership, including significant experience in consulting, solution leadership, and strategic delivery oversight.

Education
•  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
•  15+ years in a delivery leadership role.
•  AGILE, PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certifications.
•  Proficiency with project management tools and software.

Benefits:
•  25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
 •  An additional day of paid leave for your birthday (or Christmas eve).
 •  Salary sacrifice, matched employer contributed pension (4%).
 •  Life assurance (3x).
 •  Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

Neurodiversity in Cloud Computing Careers: Turning Different Thinking into a Superpower

Cloud computing sits at the heart of modern tech. Almost every digital product runs on someone’s cloud platform – from banking apps & streaming services to AI tools & online shops. Behind those platforms are teams of cloud engineers, architects, SREs, security specialists & more. These roles demand problem-solvers who can think in systems, spot patterns, stay calm under pressure & imagine better ways to build & run infrastructure. That makes cloud computing a natural fit for many neurodivergent people – including those with ADHD, autism & dyslexia. If you are neurodivergent & considering a cloud career, you might have heard messages like “you’re too distracted for engineering”, “too literal for stakeholder work” or “too disorganised for operations”. In reality, many traits that come with ADHD, autism & dyslexia are exactly what cloud teams need. This guide is written for cloud computing job seekers in the UK. We will cover: What neurodiversity means in a cloud context How ADHD, autism & dyslexia strengths map to cloud roles Practical workplace adjustments you can ask for under UK law How to talk about neurodivergence in applications & interviews By the end, you should have a clearer sense of where you might thrive in cloud computing – & how to turn “different thinking” into a professional superpower.

Many organisations are tightening budgets, some are rationalising cloud spend, yet demand for strong cloud talent remains high – especially around multi-cloud, FinOps, cloud security, data platforms & AI on cloud. Vendors are racing to integrate generative AI into their offerings, enterprises are modernising legacy estates, & regulators are asking tougher questions about resilience, sovereignty & risk. At the same time, some roles are being automated or commoditised, & the bar for cloud roles keeps rising. Whether you are a cloud job seeker planning your next move, or a recruiter building cloud teams, understanding the key cloud computing hiring trends for 2026 will help you stay ahead.
