Software Validation Engineer

Location: Gaydon - Onsite

Start Day: ASAP

Contract Rate: £400 per day inside IR35

Duration: 6 months initially

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a SW Validation Engineer to support the validation of in‑house embedded software for next‑generation charging and discharging products. Working in an Agile, office‑based environment, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality charging system software using HIL systems and test automation, ensuring compliance with functional safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead validation of embedded software for charging/discharging systems

* Develop and execute test plans aligned to the product roadmap

* Write test cases, identify automation opportunities and implement test frameworks

* Ensure full traceability between requirements, DVPs, standards and test cases

* Validate accuracy, repeatability and quality of test data and results

* Support smoke testing and software release activities

* Lead issue resolution using structured problem‑solving techniques

* Collaborate with developers, product owners, test specialists and senior stakeholders

* Deliver validation activities on time and to quality, with some shift/overtime as required

Skills & Experience

Essential:

* Strong experience in embedded software validation

* Testing of ASIL‑rated software with knowledge of ISO 26262

* Understanding of charging technology and/or power electronics (AC/DC, DC/DC)

* Hands‑on experience with dSPACE toolsets

* Excellent debugging and root‑cause analysis skills

* Experience with smoke testing and software releases

* Programming in Python, C and/or C++

* Agile/Scrum and CI/CD experience (GitLab, Jenkins, Jira)

* MSc/MEng or equivalent in Software, Electronics or similar

* Highly motivated, organised and able to prioritise effectively

Desirable:

* Experience with charging systems or power electronics validation

* Test automation toolchains and vehicle networks knowledge

* Experience with high‑voltage, high‑power real‑time embedded systems (up to 1000V / 250kW+)

* Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and independent working skills
