The Role

We`re looking for a new Data Engineer to join our Technology team based in Loudwater, Buckinghamshire. In this role, you will have a passion for uncovering insights and making data-driven decisions. Your expertise lies in working with a range of tools (SQL, Python, Cloud) to extract, transform, and load data from various sources, seamlessly bridging the gap between back-end and front-end systems. You will act as the escalation point providing 2nd/3rd line technical support in addition, you will be involved in project work to enhance the reporting capability and business functionality.

  • Be responsible for data enhancements and executing plans that utilize the current toolkit and the skills of the team to deliver these.
  • Contribute to the technological architecture/strategy from a data perspective.
  • Work closely with our Business Systems and Business Intelligence Teams to drive solutions that ensure ease of access to data and help them to work with data more effectively and efficiently.
  • Build data pipelines, owning the data engineering artefacts.
  • Build solutions to move data internal & external.
  • Engage with stakeholders to build relationships and to gain a thorough understanding of key user groups and design decisions.
  • Work across groups, projects, and products to implement data engineering solutions to solve complex business problems, using the organisation's chosen technology.
  • Support the vision for the organisation's use of data in line with corporate goals and vision.
  • Assist with Data Management activities, such as data cataloging and discovery.

The Person

This is the type of person we`re dreaming of:

  • Has been a key player in delivering technical solutions as part of large projects team with a minimum of 5 years proven experience in a data reporting environment, ideally within a fast-paced retail/ multi-site/ FMCG space.
  • Strong experience using modern data platforms and services (Fabric, Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, SQL (On-prem/Cloud) to build conformed and derived data models for the purpose of integrations, reporting, and analytics.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Fabric
  • Experience of devOps tools (git, infrastructure as code, code release deployment)
  • Strong Cloud skills, preferably with Azure
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and preferably knowledge of Python
  • Experience with Alteryx
  • Experience of Data Modelling
  • Experience of Data Governance tools, such as Purview or Unity Catalog
  • Ability and confidence to build relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Ability to explain technical subjects in a manner suitable to the audience involved.
  • Azure cloud certifications such as one or more of the following: AZ-900, DP-900, DP-203, DP-600, DP-700
