Technical Safety Engineer – Oil and Gas, Chemical, Distillery and Alternative Energy – UK
Risktec is looking to recruit experienced (3 years +) technical safety consultants for both qualitative and quantitative risk and safety studies for Oil and Gas, Chemical, Distillery and Alternative Energy facilities. The role will be based at one of our UK offices (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Warrington, London) and may involve travel around the UK and abroad.

Role Description
The successful candidate will be part of an energetic, expanding team, and will be expected to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues on multiple projects in a supportive, progressive environment. Depending on level of experience, the role will help deliver and possibly lead technical safety projects nationally and internationally. These projects cover a wide range of facilities and plant, processes and operations.

Key Skills
Applicants should have a relevant science or engineering degree, and possess strong analytical thinking, numerical skills, written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Candidates are not expected to have experience in all fields, but broad experience or a specialism is expected in the following:
• Safety Cases, HSE MS, ALARP, SIMOPS
• Hazard identification, assessment and evaluation techniques including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie assessment, etc.
• Function safety including HAZOP, LOPA, FSA, FMECA, Fault Tree analysis
• Fire, explosion and toxic gas consequence and physical effects modelling using specialist software (e.g. PHAST, FRED)
• QRA and other technical safety studies (e.g. BRA, EERA, ESSA, FERA, Facility Siting Studies) using commercial software (e.g. SAFETI, SHEPHERD)
• Handling large-scale CFD projects using HPC and cloud computing
• Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) studies
• DSEAR, ATEX and Hazardous Areas Classification
• Human Factors, safety culture
• Project planning and management
• Writing proposals and coordinating bids
