Job Title: School Kitchen/Catering Assistant

Location: Solihull
Salary: £12.21 per hour
Working Hours: Monday to Friday (term-time only), up to 5 hours per day (hours may vary)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and motivated School Kitchen/Catering Assistant to support the daily operations of a school kitchen in Solihull. This role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, and ensuring the safe and timely delivery of meals from a central production kitchen to the school site.

Key Responsibilities:



Assist with food preparation and portioning according to daily menus

*

Set up and serve meals in line with food hygiene standards

*

Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, serving areas, and equipment

*

Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations

*

Set up and clear dining areas before and after meal service

*

Clean kitchen equipment and dining furniture as needed

*

Receive, check, and store food deliveries in line with food safety guidelines

*

Drive and transport prepared food from the production kitchen to the school kitchen

*

Ensure safe handling and punctual delivery of food items

*

Report any issues or delays in transportation to the Catering Manager or Supervisor

*

Provide support to other kitchen staff as required

*

Comply with health and safety, food hygiene, and COSHH regulations at all times

*

Support inclusive service delivery and promote equal opportunities in the workplace

*

Carry out additional duties as directed by the Catering Manager in line with service needs

Requirements:

*

Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or school kitchen environment (preferred)

*

Valid UK manual driving licence (essential)

*

Ability to transport food safely and punctually between sites

*

Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards

*

Physically fit and capable of lifting/moving catering equipment or food containers

*

Strong communication and teamwork skills

*

Flexible and willing to adjust hours if required

Additional Information:

*

An Enhanced DBS Check is required (must be registered on the Update Service or willing to apply)

*

Must provide two professional references covering the last 24 months
