DevOps Engineer (DV-Cleared) – National Security Projects
 
Location: Gloucester or Manchester (Hybrid)
Clearance Required: DV Clearance

We’re partnering with a highly respected organisation operating in the national security sector to hire experienced DevOps Engineers for mission-critical projects.
 
The Opportunity
You’ll be joining a multidisciplinary engineering team that works across secure government and defence programs, helping to build, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality software systems. This role bridges development, infrastructure, security, and operations—giving you exposure to a broad technical environment with purpose-driven impact.
 
What You’ll Be Doing
You will design and implement DevOps pipelines and practices that enable fast, safe, and reliable delivery of software. This includes:

Automating build, integration, deployment, and cloud infrastructure processes
Supporting and optimising CI/CD pipelines
Containerising and orchestrating microservices-based environments
Troubleshooting complex issues across infrastructure, code, and security layers
Collaborating with engineers, architects, and operational teams
Maintaining systems in live environments and responding to incidents
Ensuring security, observability, and scalability are embedded in solutions
Key Skills & Experience Required
 
Automation & Tooling

CI/CD tools and pipeline development (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo)
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
Orchestration and containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker)
Scripting in Python, Bash, or similar
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or private cloud)DevOps & Systems Engineering

Solid understanding of Linux or Windows system administration
Familiarity with cloud-native application deployment
Experience managing databases (SQL, NoSQL)
Exposure to legacy infrastructure and modernisation approaches
Performance tuning and workload scalingWays of Working

Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies
SRE principles and observability practices
Experience in mission-critical or highly regulated environments is advantageous
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skillsWhat’s on Offer

Security & Eligibility Requirements
Due to the sensitive nature of these roles, an active eDV clearance is essential. Candidates must have a minimum of 5–10 years of continuous UK residency to meet vetting requirements.
