Staff Data Engineer

Remote, USA

$180,000 to $210,000 USD

This is a high-impact Staff Data Engineer role where you will help shape and deliver modern, enterprise-scale data platforms. You will play a key part in defining architecture, driving best practices, and enabling AI-ready data systems that support real production use cases.

The Role

* Design and deliver scalable data platforms across pipelines, warehouses, and data lakes

* Build and optimise batch and real-time data pipelines

* Define and enforce data governance, quality, and compliance standards

* Support the design of data systems for AI and machine learning, including embeddings and feature pipelines

* Improve platform performance, scalability, and cost efficiency

* Implement monitoring, logging, and CI/CD processes for data systems

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data solutions

* Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practice

Your Skills and Experience

* Strong commercial experience building and scaling distributed data systems

* Expertise in Python, SQL, and either Scala or a similar language

* Deep knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and data warehousing

* Experience with data pipeline orchestration and processing

* Strong experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub

* Solid understanding of data modelling, transformation, and governance frameworks

* Experience working with containerised environments and CI/CD pipelines

* Hands-on experience supporting AI and machine learning data workflows

* Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
