Software Engineer – National Security Programme

Enhanced DV Cleared

Ncounter is supporting a specialist consultancy delivering secure technology solutions into highly sensitive National Security environments. We are now seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with a strong Java background to join a complex, high-impact programme, blending software engineering with modern platform and cloud practices. This role brings together hands-on engineering with DevOps ownership across a secure, distributed environment

This is a genuinely technical role where you will contribute to both the development of Java-based services and the engineering of the platforms that support them. You will work across CI/CD pipelines, containerised environments, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and resilient within highly controlled settings.

You will collaborate closely with engineers and architects to embed DevOps principles into the development lifecycle, improving automation, deployment, and operational performance across the platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and support Java-based applications within a secure environment

• Design and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery workflows

• Work with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

• Support cloud-based infrastructure, primarily within AWS environments

• Drive improvements in observability, monitoring, and system reliability

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure clean, scalable engineering practices

What We’re Looking For:

• Active Enhanced DV clearance – essential

• Strong software engineering background in Java

• Proven DevOps experience across CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and modern cloud platforms

• Strong understanding of Linux-based systems

• Experience working in secure or highly regulated environments
