Senior Developer, Back End, API, .Net SQL, NW London to £80K (office based role)

A Senior Back End Developer is required to join this established financial software house based in North London. They work with some of the leading brands in retail and media, offering financial management systems developed in house by their small dynamic team of tech professionals. Due to growth a Senior Developer is required with expertise in .NET, C# / VB, SQL Server, and SAP Business One integration. The ideal candidate should have strong skills in RESTful API development, database optimization, and Azure DevOps pipeline management. Knowledge of API security, CI/CD automation, and Swagger documentation is recommended.

Responsibilities

  • API Development: Build and maintain RESTful APIs in VB.NET and C#, integrating with SQL Server and SAP Business One backend tables
  • Database Management: Write optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies to efficiently handle large datasets
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and enhance API performance, database query execution, and application scalability
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed documentation for APIs, database structures and all the back-end infrastructure
  • Collaboration: Work closely with SAP consultants, frontend developers, and DevOps engineers to ensure seamless system integration
  • Code Quality: Conduct code reviews, debugging, and error handling to maintain system reliability
  • Best Practices: Stay up to date with API design standards, database performance tuning, and cloud integration trends

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of backend development experience
  • Strong .NET skills for API development and business logic implementation
  • Expertise in SQL Server, including query optimization, indexing, and stored procedures
  • Proficiency in RESTful API development, with a strong understanding of error handling, logging, and monitoring
  • Good understanding of Windows Forms
  • Experience with Git, version control workflows, and agile development methodologies

What Would Be Good to Have

  • Experience setting up and managing Azure DevOps pipelines for CI/CD automation
  • Good familiarity with Swagger for API documentation
  • SAP Business One or similar accounting system experience
  • Hands-on experience with SAP backend table integration via APIs
  • Knowledge of Azure services for API hosting and cloud infrastructure management
  • Knowledge of web frontend technologies
