Introduction

A major UK organisation responsible for one of the country’s most recognised digital platforms is undergoing a large-scale technology transformation. They’re looking for a Senior Developer to help design, automate and support the infrastructure that powers critical services used by millions.

Role Overview:

  • Location: Watford (Hybrid - 3 days in office a week)
  • Package: Up to £80,000 p/a + benefits
  • Industry: Gaming / Lottery / Digital Platforms

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing, deploying and managing automation and monitoring platforms that support large-scale applications and services
  • Building and maintaining monitoring, alerting and observability tooling across the platform
  • Creating dashboards that translate complex technical data into meaningful insights for stakeholders
  • Developing automation to integrate new systems using existing frameworks
  • Managing and configuring automated job scheduling and platform workflows
  • Building GitHub Actions pipelines to deploy code across test and production environments
  • Driving best practices around security, compliance, reliability and cost optimisation
  • Supporting capacity planning and troubleshooting across complex infrastructure environments
  • Working with technical leads and delivery teams to break down work into manageable tasks and stories
  • Collaborating with product owners, analysts and engineers to shape and prioritise the development backlog

Main Skills Needed:

  • Strong experience withAWS cloud services and infrastructure automation
  • Hands-on expertise withTerraform, Ansible and containerisation (Docker)
  • StrongPython development skills, including scripting and Lambda functions
  • Experience building and managingCI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions
  • Monitoring and observability tooling such asAppDynamics, Grafana, InfluxDB, Graphite, Sensu or similar
  • Experience working withserverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge)
  • Solid understanding ofLinux / Unix administration and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge ofnetworking fundamentals including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, APIs and encryption
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools likeJIRA and Confluence
  • Exposure to modern development stacks such asNode.js, Java or similar
  • Understanding of infrastructure services likeConsul, Vault or ServiceNow ITOM is beneficial
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
