Senior Azure Platform Engineer - MOD/Defence - UK Security Clearance Required

£70-80k + benefits

Farnborough (Hybrid 2-3 days on site)

SC Clearance

Build platforms that have to work. Every time.

This role sits in a space where engineering standards are high, MOD and Defence environments are complex, and the outcome actually matters. You'll be working on secure, Azure-based platforms that support critical operations, not just internal systems or low-impact products.

If you enjoy getting into the detail, solving difficult problems, and building things properly, this is the kind of work that keeps you interested.

What you'll be doing

You'll be designing and delivering secure Azure platforms, working closely with engineers and architects to make sure everything is robust, scalable, and built with security in mind from the start.

A big part of the role is shaping how the platform is built and improved over time.

Designing and managing Azure infrastructure across AKS, compute, storage and networking

Building secure connectivity across hybrid and multi-cloud environments

Applying and improving cloud security best practices

Leading on Kubernetes environments and container deployments

Driving CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as CodeYou'll also be involved in improving performance, reliability, and how teams use the platform day to day.

What you'll bring

This is a senior role, so you'll need to be comfortable taking ownership and making decisions in a complex environment.

Strong background in Azure, ideally with AZ-104 and AZ-305

Deep understanding of networking and secure cloud architecture

Hands-on Kubernetes experience in production

Experience with Terraform or similar tooling

Proven ability to build and improve CI/CD pipelinesBeyond that, it's about mindset. Someone who takes responsibility, questions things, and enjoys working through challenges rather than avoiding them.

If you're looking for a role where the technical bar is high and the work has real weight behind it, this is one to take seriously

This guide, published by CloudComputingJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise cloud computing roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
