Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented commercial real estate lawyer to fill the position of Legal Counsel supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS), a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. AWS is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more.

As part of the AWS legal team, you will be responsible for supporting AWS's worldwide data center expansion through land acquisitions, leases, zoning entitlement work and serviced licenses. You will have transactional drafting and negotiating responsibilities on deals, and will provide legal counsel and contract interpretation to business team members on a daily basis. Transactions range from standard contracts to complex, bespoke, high value agreements. You will structure, draft and negotiate agreements and leases, help support AWS's existing portfolio, manage outside counsel, and advise internal business clients. In addition, you will help develop, implement, and manage process improvements across the team, resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, and handle pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

A day in the life
You will be based in our London office, working alongside AWS business teams to enable the company's global infrastructure expansion. Your day includes partnering directly with business clients who rely on your counsel to navigate complex real estate transactions and resolve challenges as they arise.
You will balance multiple priorities—from negotiating high-value agreements to advising on portfolio matters and managing outside counsel relationships. The work is fast-paced and varied, requiring sound judgment in ambiguous situations and creative problem-solving on novel issues. You will collaborate in person with colleagues across the legal team and business, building relationships that drive strategic outcomes for AWS's continued growth.
The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
