Platform Automation Engineer - 6-month Contract - SC Cleared

We are currently hiring for a Contract Platform Automation Engineer with strong skills in VMWare, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible and Python. This is a 6-month Contract, working on a hybrid basis (1-2 days per week) in Corsham. Rates range between £580 - £680 per day InsideIR35. Please note active SC (MoD) Clearance is required for this role.

This is a senior engineering role working on mission-critical systems that support the armed forces.
The platform is primarily built on VMWare, Windows, and Linux technologies, with automation focused on Windows Server components, VMware SDDC tools, REST APIs, and bespoke applications.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop high-quality production automation code using PowerShell, following best practices and version control workflows (GIT/Bitbucket).
  
• Design and implement complex solutions with tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, and Jenkins.
  
• Automate deployment across server, network, and storage technologies.
  
• Produce and review design artefacts, supporting system testing activities.
  
• Collaborate with Service Management teams to diagnose and resolve issues.
  
  Skills required:
  
• Recent hands-on experience creating complex PowerShell automation modules (PowerShell v4+).
  
• Experience with automated deployments across multiple vendors.
  
• Strong background in large-scale Windows infrastructure environments.
  
• Familiarity with test-driven development and tools such as Jenkins.
  
• Experience with infrastructure/applications such as SolarWinds, ELK, VMware Horizon, VEEAM.
  
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  
  Desirable:
  
• Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  
• Certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, or Oracle OCA.
  
• Public sector/Defence experience.
