Network Engineer (Data Network Services) – Contract

Location: Leeds (Hybrid)

Rate: £375 – £450 per day inside IR35

Contract Length: 6 months

Start Date: ASAP

Working Pattern: Hybrid (some travel and occasional weekend support may be required)

Overview

Our client is seeking experienced Network Engineers to join their Network Service Data Team, providing day‑to‑day support for incidents and change requests across a large, enterprise‑scale environment.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working across the full lifecycle of network services—from design and implementation through to live transition and operational support—while applying modern engineering principles to deliver secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

* Installation, configuration, and support of Production, Non‑Production, and Disaster Recovery network infrastructures

* Support and resolution of incidents and delivery of network change requests

* Design, documentation, and implementation of network infrastructure across development, testing, and live environments

* Apply modern engineering practices including:

* Software Defined Networking (SDN)

* Automation and orchestration

* Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

* Advanced observability and monitoring

* Ensure secure, reliable, and highly available network services in an enterprise environment

Key Skills & Experience

* Strong experience designing, implementing, and supporting LAN and WAN networks

* Solid understanding of IP networking

* Knowledge of core routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, Spanning Tree) to CCNA level or equivalent

* Proven experience securing internet‑facing services

* DNS and DHCP experience across Windows, Unix, and internet environments

* Understanding of vulnerability assessment and penetration testing

* Excellent troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and resolution skills

Desirable Technical Experience

* Security and firewall technologies, including Cisco FTD and Check Point

* F5 Application Delivery Controllers

* Cisco Wireless and Cisco Secure Access

* Cisco ACI and Cisco Hybrid ZTNA

* Scripting, automation, and Infrastructure as Code
