JavaScript Engineer

Cheltenham, full time onsite

Ncounter is supporting a highly specialised software consultancy delivering secure, high assurance engineering into some of the UK’s most sensitive environments. This is a genuinely mission focused role, working on complex systems where the work carries real impact and technical depth.

We are looking for a JavaScript Developer to join a close-knit engineering team operating at the forefront of secure software delivery. You will be building robust, scalable applications within a highly controlled environment, collaborating with experienced engineers who value clean design, strong fundamentals and continuous improvement.

This role offers a strong balance between delivery and personal development, with dedicated time each week to focus on learning, experimentation and advancing your technical capability.

Key requirements:

• Strong commercial experience with JavaScript

• Experience building backend or full stack applications in secure or complex environments

• Understanding of modern development practices such as Agile, TDD and CI/CD

• Experience or interest in containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker or Kubernetes

• Exposure to additional programming languages is beneficial

The environment is highly collaborative, technically driven and built around long-term engineering quality rather than short term delivery. You will be encouraged to take ownership, contribute ideas and continuously improve how software is designed and delivered.

On offer is a competitive salary, strong pension contribution, meaningful project work and a genuine commitment to work life balance, alongside structured time for self-development each week.

Due to the nature of the work, active DV clearance is required.
