Job Title: IT / Platform Engineering Manager

Location: Cambridgeshire - hybird

Salary: 65-75K + Benefits

Overview

We are working with a leading enterprise organisation seeking an experienced IT / Platform Engineering Manager to lead high-performing engineering teams responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining critical platforms. This is a key leadership role suited to someone with a strong background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), enterprise IT environments, and modern cloud-based & On-prem infrastructure. This wont be hands on, it will be managing, managers,teams & MSP's.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage platform engineering and SRE teams within a large-scale organisation

Drive reliability, scalability, and performance across critical systems and services

Define and implement SRE best practices, including SLIs, SLOs, and incident management

Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and business units

Oversee cloud infrastructure strategy, optimisation, and cost efficiency

Ensure alignment with IT service management frameworks, including ITIL

Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability

Manage vendor relationships and third-party service providers where applicableKey Requirements

Proven experience managing engineering or SRE teams in a large, complex organisation

Strong background in platform engineering, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and modern infrastructure

Solid understanding of ITIL frameworks and IT service management principles

Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of building and scaling teams

Experience driving operational excellence, incident response, and system reliability

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical oversight
