3rd Line Infrastructure & Network Engineer

About the Role

An experienced and highly capable 3rd Line Infrastructure & Network Engineer is sought to join a growing IT team, providing expert technical support and infrastructure leadership across a complex enterprise environment.

The successful candidate will possess outstanding hands-on experience across the Microsoft technology stack, combined with strong networking expertise and a solid understanding of SharePoint administration and support. This is a senior technical role requiring excellent troubleshooting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to take ownership of critical infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 3rd line support for business-critical infrastructure, systems, and network services.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimise Microsoft-based environments.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Entra ID (Azure AD), Teams, Intune, and SharePoint.
  • Manage and support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and virtualisation platforms.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues across LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and firewall technologies.
  • Lead technical investigations, root cause analysis, and problem management activities.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and transformation projects.
  • Maintain security best practices and support compliance requirements.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, third-party vendors, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality IT services.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer, Senior Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong hands-on expertise across the Microsoft ecosystem, including:
  • Microsoft 365
  • Azure / Entra ID
  • Exchange Online
  • Intune
  • Windows Server
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • PowerShell
  • Strong networking knowledge and troubleshooting experience, including:
  • TCP/IP
  • Routing and Switching
  • VLANs
  • Firewalls
  • VPNs
  • Network Security
  • Wireless Networking
  • Experience supporting and administering SharePoint Online.
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and infrastructure best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Desirable Skills

  • Microsoft certifications (Azure, Microsoft 365, Security, or Infrastructure related).
  • Experience with cloud migration projects.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of modern security frameworks and monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to automation and scripting technologies.
