Proactive is currently hiring for a Robotics Software Engineer role based in Oxfordshire, offering a competitive salary of £80-100K.

What does this role involve?

Developing and maintaining autonomy software for real-world robotic systems

Working with ROS 2, utilizing modern C++ (17/20) and Python

Integrating perception, planning, and control modules

Collaborating with deployment teams to support complex field operations

Occasional travel for hands-on deployment support

Working onsite with the robotics team in Oxford Verda

Requirements:

Proven industry experience or strong academic background

Evidence of past work such as open-source contributions, competition results, or deployed systems

Solid experience with ROS 2, C++, and Python

Familiarity with Linux, Git, CI/CD, and containerization

Willingness to travel for hands-on deployment (when required)

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Strong Advantage If You Have:

Expertise in LiDAR sensor integration

Experience designing robotic software at scale

Background in LiDAR-based SLAM, segmentation, or other perception pipelines

Contributions to open-source robotics projects

Participation in competitions like RoboCup, Formula Student AI, or DARPA challenges
