About the Role

We’re hiring anEngineer Storage Services to help design, build, operate, and improve storage capabilities across the Nscale platform, includingBlock, File, Parallel, and Object services.

This role sits within theEngineering team and reports to theVP Storage Services, working closely with a technically strong group of engineers as well as senior technical leaders, includingPrincipal Engineers. You’ll collaborate across the wider platform to ensure storage services integrate effectively withcompute, networking, and platform tooling.

You’ll play an important role in deliveringreliable, scalable, and high-performing storage services that support both the broader Nscale platform and customer needs. It’s a strong opportunity for an engineer with solid storage and infrastructure fundamentals who wants to solve complex technical problems and contribute to the evolution of core platform capabilities in a fast-moving environment.

What you'll be doing

Storage Services Engineering

  • Build storage services acrossBlock, File, Parallel, and Object storage technologies.
  • Operate and improve storage platforms to support scalable, resilient, and secure service delivery.
  • Implement designs, architectures, and service improvements in partnership with senior engineers and technical leaders.
  • Contribute to the engineering and day-to-day running of storage platforms and services.

Platform Integration and Operations

  • Support the delivery of storage capabilities aligned toNscale platform standards.
  • Assist with integrating storage services into the broader platform to ensure interoperability withcompute, networking, and platform tooling.
  • Work with the wider engineering organisation to understand requirements, resolve issues, and deliver services that meet platform and customer needs.
  • Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and service improvement initiatives led by Storage Services leadership.

Reliability, Monitoring, and Incident Response

  • Monitor service health, performance, and capacity across the storage estate.
  • Improve observability, alerting, and operational readiness for production storage services.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, performance issues, and service problems using a structured approach.
  • Support root cause analysis and help drive long-term fixes to improve service reliability.

Automation and Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to service reliability through automation, tooling, documentation, and process optimisation.
  • Support engineering best practices across configuration management, testing, deployment, and operational support.
  • Maintain clear documentation for storage systems, operational procedures, service changes, and support processes.
  • Stay current with developments in storage technologies, infrastructure platforms, and engineering practices relevant to Nscale’s storage portfolio.

About You

Core Skills

  • Experience as a Storage Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Platform Engineer role, ideally in cloud, hosting, infrastructure, or distributed systems environments
  • Good working knowledge of storage concepts and technologies across one or more ofBlock, File, Parallel, and Object storage
  • Experience supporting production infrastructure or platform services with a focus on reliability, performance, and operational excellence
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems, networking fundamentals, and infrastructure operations
  • Experience with automation, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code approaches for managing platforms and services
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical, service, performance, and operational issues in a structured and methodical way
  • Understanding of monitoring, observability, and incident response practices in production environments

Additional Qualities

  • Comfort working collaboratively within an engineering team while taking guidance from senior engineers and contributing independently
  • Strong attention to detail, practical problem-solving ability, and a delivery-oriented engineering mindset
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, and platform teams
  • Eagerness to deepen your expertise in storage platforms, distributed systems, and large-scale infrastructure services
  • Experience in cloud, AI, HPC, data-intensive, or performance-sensitive environments would be advantageous
