We are recruiting on behalf of a growing technology business for aDevOps Engineer to join their expanding team in Wakefield. This is a great opportunity for someone who is technically minded, proactive and keen to develop within a forward-thinking environment.

You don't necessarily need extensive commercial DevOps experience. If you have a good understanding of SQL databases, strong problem-solving skills and the motivation to learn and develop, they would be keen to hear from you.


THE ROLE


AsDevOps Engineer, you'll help bridge the gap between software development and IT operations, supporting the delivery of reliable, scalable and secure systems.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing, maintaining and improving operational workflows.
  • Supporting dashboard creation, data capture forms, backend processes and application integrations.
  • Working alongside Developers, System Administrators and other teams to support efficient system architecture.
  • Supporting continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Managing and working with SQL-based databases including MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
  • Monitoring systems and helping to identify and resolve issues or bottlenecks.
  • Troubleshooting technical and operational issues.
  • Maintaining clear documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability and automation.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across internal processes and tools.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology, enjoys solving problems and is motivated to develop.

You'll ideally have:
  • Knowledge or experience of SQL-based databases such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server or T-SQL.
  • An understanding of DevOps principles and an interest in developing your knowledge further.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of cloud storage solutions such as S3 would be beneficial but isn't essential.
Previous DevOps experience would be an advantage, butmotivation, aptitude and the desire to develop are just as important.
