Cloudflare Security Engineer (WAF / WARP) – Contract (3 Months)

We’re looking for a highly confident, hands-on Cloudflare Security Engineer to lead a critical migration from AWS WAF to Cloudflare WAF. This is a fast-paced, technically demanding engagement where deep expertise in Cloudflare WARP and Terraform-led infrastructure automation is essential.

This role requires someone who can own complex security challenges end-to-end, operate with minimal oversight, and make confident decisions in high-impact environments.

This is a fully remote contract that will initially start as a 3-month contract.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the end-to-end migration from AWS WAF to Cloudflare WAF (rule translation, optimisation, testing, rollout)

* Design and implement Cloudflare WAF policies (managed rules, custom rules, bot protection, rate limiting)

* Deploy and manage Cloudflare Zero Trust & WARP for secure, identity-based access

* Configure and optimise DNS, load balancing, and traffic steering within Cloudflare

* Integrate Cloudflare with AWS services (ALB, CloudFront, Route 53)

* Implement edge security controls (DDoS protection, TLS, monitoring)

* Troubleshoot complex networking, performance, and security issues

* Support scalable deployments using Terraform

Required Experience

* Extensive hands-on experience with Cloudflare WAF, Zero Trust, and WARP (non-negotiable)

* Proven track record migrating from AWS WAF to Cloudflare

* Strong understanding of DNS, TLS, CDNs, reverse proxies, and traffic routing

* Solid AWS background (ALB, CloudFront, Route 53, security services)

* Strong experience with Terraform

* Excellent problem-solving skills across security and network layers

Key Traits

* Confident and decisive in high-pressure security scenarios

* Able to navigate ambiguity and complex edge cases

* Strong ownership mindset with a hands-on approach

If you’re a Cloudflare specialist who thrives on complex security challenges and large-scale migrations, this is a high-impact opportunity to make a tangible difference quickly, and we would love to hear from you
