Are you an experienced MS Azure disciplined Cloud Solutions Architect who enjoys shaping secure, scalable cloud solutions for complex and highly regulated environments?

At Telent, we're looking for a Cloud Solutions Architect to play a key role in designing and positioning winning cloud solutions across our Government, Defence, Public Sector and Enterprise customer portfolio. This is a client‑facing role where you'll work closely with Sales, Bids, Engineering and Delivery teams to translate customer outcomes into robust, secure and commercially viable Cloud architectures.

You'll be joining a collaborative and high‑performing cloud engineering community, delivering complex solutions that support the UK's critical national infrastructure across government, defence, public sector, emergency services and other secure environments.

This Principal Cloud Engineer role is classed as a Flexible Work Location / AGILE role - you will be required to travel to and attend meetings / workshops at either Telent Warwick (CV34 5AH) or Telent Farnborough (GU14 7DL) at least 1-2 days per month, primarily working from home and travelling to customer sites if or when needed.

Cloud Solutions Architect - What you'll do

Lead technical discovery sessions and architecture discussions with senior customer stakeholders

Design secure, compliant cloud solutions aligned to customer requirements, business outcomes and commercial constraints

Own cloud solution architecture across pre‑sales, from options papers through to final designs and governance approval

Produce high‑quality architecture documentation, diagrams, compliance responses and supporting artefacts

Develop costed cloud designs, estimates and bills of materials, with a strong appreciation of financial and operational impact

Present proposed solutions clearly and confidently to both technical and non‑technical audiences

Ensure security‑by‑design principles are embedded across identity, networking, data protection, monitoring and resilience

Collaborate with Sales, Bid, Product, Delivery and Operations teams to ensure smooth handover into delivery and support

Engage with strategic cloud partners and vendors to enhance and evolve Telent's cloud offerings

Create and maintain reusable cloud architecture patterns, reference designs and landing zone frameworksCloud Solutions Architect - Who you are

You are a confident, consultative Cloud Solutions Architect with a proven track record of designing cloud solutions in complex, secure or highly regulated environments. You're comfortable operating at both a strategic and detailed level, balancing customer needs, security requirements and commercial considerations.

You enjoy working directly with customers, can clearly articulate architectural designs and decisions, and are trusted to shape solutions that stand up to technical, operational and governance scrutiny.

Cloud Solutions Architect - Key requirements

Essential

Expert‑level Azure / MS Azure architecture experience, including relevant Azure / Cloud certifications

Proven experience and track record of architecting Cloud solutions within an MSP, SI (systems integrator) or enterprise pre‑sales environment

Strong understanding of Cloud fundamentals across compute / computing, storage, networks / networking, identity, security, data and observability

Demonstrable experience designing solutions for highly secure environments (e.g. government, MOD, policing, emergency services)

Security‑by‑design mindset, covering identity & access management, encryption, network segmentation, logging and resilience

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear value‑led narratives

Must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC), NPPV3 and DV Clearance (Telent will sponsor the successful candidate to obtain necessary clearances), including meeting minimum UK residency requirementsDesirable

Experience with AWS and/or GCP alongside Azure is highly desirable

Familiarity with public sector frameworks and regulatory environments

Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines and modern cloud operating models

Exposure to FinOps, cost optimisation and commercial modellingWhat we offer
