Job Title: Cloud Engineer - GCP, Python, Terraform

Location: Glasgow

Experience: 8-10 years

Role Summary

We are looking for a skilled Cloud Engineer with deep experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Python, and Terraform to support a large-scale Google Cloud enablement initiative. This role will focus on building secure, scalable, and automated cloud foundations, enabling Vertex AI services, provisioning delivery environments, and implementing the target-state operating model across people, process, and technology.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for engineering reusable cloud infrastructure, automating platform provisioning, embedding governance and controls, and enabling high-quality, production-ready GCP services for enterprise AI/ML workloads.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and automate GCP infrastructure using Terraform and Python.

Provision and manage cloud environments required for the program, including Production.

Develop reusable infrastructure modules, templates, and engineering patterns for scalable GCP adoption.

Implement cloud services and platform capabilities required to enable Vertex AI APIs and enterprise AI/ML workloads.

Build automation for provisioning, configuration validation, compliance checks, operational workflows, and platform integrations.

Collaborate with architecture, security, network, IAM, and platform teams to deliver compliant and production-ready cloud solutions.

Translate control-plane and operating model requirements into deployable engineering assets and standards.

Support environment setup, service onboarding, policy alignment, and release readiness for GCP workloads.

Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, governance, and resiliency requirements, especially for regulated and HCD-sensitive workloads.

Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure lifecycle management, version control, and release automation.

Document platform designs, engineering standards, implementation patterns, and operational procedures.

Mentor team members and provide technical leadership on cloud engineering best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Deep experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code, module development, and environment provisioning.

Strong Python development/scripting experience for automation and tooling.

Experience building and managing cloud infrastructure in enterprise environments.

Familiarity with core GCP services such as networking, compute, IAM, storage, monitoring, and security services.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and automated deployment practices.

Understanding of cloud governance, policy enforcement, secure design, and operational controls.

Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and reusable cloud engineering solutions.

Strong troubleshooting, collaboration, and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Vertex AI, AI/ML platform enablement, or API-based model integration.

Exposure to enterprise cloud control planes or multi-cloud platform engineering.

Familiarity with IAM, networking, security, and policy-as-code concepts.

Experience in regulated environments such as banking or financial services.

Knowledge of SRE, observability, and production support considerations for cloud platforms.

Experience driving platform standardization and engineering operating models.Guidant, Carbon60, Lorien & SRG - The Impellam Group Portfolio are acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy

Where to Advertise Cloud Computing Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising cloud computing jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool is large relative to other deep tech disciplines but highly segmented — cloud architects, DevOps engineers, platform engineers, FinOps specialists and cloud security professionals each occupy distinct communities with different job search behaviours, certification profiles and salary expectations. General job boards reach a broad audience but struggle to differentiate between these disciplines, producing high application volumes but low candidate quality for specialist cloud roles. This guide, published by CloudComputingJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise cloud computing roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Cloud Computing Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Cloud computing is the infrastructure layer on which the modern digital economy runs — and the jobs market that has grown around it is one of the largest, most sustained, and most structurally resilient in the entire technology sector. But the cloud computing jobs market of 2026 looks quite different from the one that existed three years ago, and the next three years will bring further change at a pace that rewards those who understand the direction of travel. The migration phase that defined cloud hiring for much of the previous decade is largely complete for enterprise organisations. The question for most UK businesses is no longer whether to move to the cloud but how to operate, optimise, and secure what they have already built there — and how to integrate the wave of AI capability that is now being delivered primarily through cloud infrastructure. That shift has profound implications for which cloud skills are in demand, which roles are growing, and which are beginning to plateau. At the same time, new architectural patterns — multi-cloud, cloud-native, serverless, and the growing integration of edge computing with centralised cloud infrastructure — are creating entirely new categories of specialist expertise that employers are actively competing to hire. The cloud computing jobs market of 2026 is not contracting. It is evolving, and evolving in ways that create significant opportunity for job seekers who are building the right skills. This article breaks down what the UK cloud computing jobs market is likely to look like through to 2028 — covering the titles emerging right now, the technologies driving employer demand, the skills that will matter most, and how to position your career ahead of the curve.
