Cloud Architect – National Security Programme

eDV Cleared

Ncounter is supporting a specialist technology consultancy delivering into highly sensitive National Security programmes, now seeking experienced eDV Cleared Cloud Architects to join a major greenfield platform build.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the architecture of a secure, cloud-native product operating within a high-side environment, where data security, encryption, and system resilience are critical.

The Opportunity

You will take ownership of architectural design across a complex, distributed platform that processes secure, encrypted data within controlled environments.

This programme is at an early stage, giving you genuine influence over how systems are structured, integrated, and scaled.

You will work closely with engineering teams to define patterns, guide implementation, and ensure robust, secure, and scalable solutions across both high-side and low-side environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own end-to-end architecture across cloud-based systems

  • Design secure, scalable solutions operating within National Security constraints

  • Lead architectural decisions across distributed systems and data workflows

  • Work closely with engineers to ensure clean implementation of architectural patterns

  • Contribute to greenfield system design, including platform structure and integration

  • Ensure systems are built with security, resilience, and observability at their core

    What We’re Looking For

  • Active eDV (Enhanced Developed Vetting / Green Badge) – essential

  • Strong experience as a Cloud or Solution Architect within complex environments

  • Proven background in AWS cloud architecture (Azure beneficial)

  • Strong understanding of DevOps tooling and modern engineering practices

  • Software engineering background with Java or Python

  • Experience designing systems involving secure data handling or encryption workflows

  • Ability to operate in highly controlled, secure environments

This is a greenfield opportunity within a high-impact National Security programme, offering genuine ownership and influence over system design. You will work on secure, encrypted platforms at the forefront of cloud engineering, with the backing of a programme that has immediate hiring demand and strong long-term growth. If you hold active eDV clearance and want to shape secure, cloud-native systems, we would welcome a conversation

How Many Cloud Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Cloud Job?

If you are aiming for a role in cloud computing, it can feel like the skills list never ends. One job advert asks for AWS, Terraform and Kubernetes. Another mentions Azure DevOps, PowerShell and ARM templates. A third throws in Docker, Python, Linux, CI/CD, monitoring tools and security frameworks. It is no surprise that many cloud job seekers feel overwhelmed before they even apply. Here is the reality most cloud hiring managers agree on: they are not hiring you because you know every cloud tool. They are hiring you because you understand cloud concepts, can design reliable systems, manage costs, keep things secure and support real workloads. Tools matter, but only when they support outcomes. So how many cloud computing tools do you actually need to know to get a job? For most roles, the answer is far fewer than you think. This article explains what employers really expect, which tools are essential, which are role-specific, and how to focus your learning so you look capable and employable rather than scattered.
