AWS Infrastructure Engineer

We're working with a successful and fast growing business with over 400 employees, 5000+ customers and a growing, high-demand infrastructure estate. The role of AWS Cloud Infrastructure / Platform Engineer is to support and evolve a hybrid infrastructure environment spanning cloud and on-premise systems. This is a senior and influential role where, alongside your technical contribution, you will help to improve and scale the hybrid cloud environment.

The Role:

You'll play a key role in managing and enhancing a hybrid infrastructure estate, supporting both internal systems and customer-facing platforms. Working closely with engineering teams, you'll help drive best practices across DevOps, automation, and system reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support hybrid infrastructure across AWS and on-premise environments
  • Optimise systems for performance, scalability, security, and cost
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve DevOps practices and automation
  • Monitor infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability
  • Maintain clear documentation and continuously improve processes

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in AWS infrastructure design, deployment and system administration.
  • Broad understanding of Microsoft hybrid cloud infrastructures with a good working knowledge of on-premise infrastructure.
  • Networking (switching, load balancing and firewalls)
  • Experience of working with commercially focused software engineering teams using Agile/DevOps practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; effective working independently and within teams.
  • Experience managing complex projects.

Highly proficient in at least two of the following technologies:

  • Docker (AWS ECS)
  • Terraform, Ansible, or CDK
  • AWS IaaS (EC2, VPC, Transit Gateway)
  • CloudFlare
  • Windows Server (IIS)
  • Linux
