Architecture Manager

Location: Walsall
Salary/Package: To: £80,000

As a progressive organisation we are looking for a new Architecture Manager, ideally with a Salesforce background, who will relish the technical challenge and opportunity to develop their team and their own skills. Leading a team of around eight and reporting to the Head of Product and Engineering, you will be working in conjunction with our Product, Engineering and Professional Services teams across the UK, Australia, USA and India, providing you with the opportunity to learn everything we know about multi-utility billing, software delivery and more.

The Role:

As our Architecture Manager, your day-to-day will be varied, but you will typically:

Be accountable for the architectural team vision and direction of our future-state architecture, including development of Salesforce technical expertise.
Establish and maintain a strategic partnership with the Salesforce ISV Technical Enablement Team to ensure that the Solution Architecture Team is consistently aligned with Salesforce technical ethos and best practice
Keep abreast of technological advances in cloud PaaS/Salesforce, helping to steer and prototype with engineering teams on technical choices to solve platform and product goals
Support other members of the Senior Software Management Team to help lead effective technical due-diligences and providing clarity around risks and opportunities.
Align platform and product delivery with the future-state architecture by working collaboratively with product management and delivery teams
Identify and develop talent to ensure a succession of knowledgeable and skilled architects are available to support all architectural and pre-sales activities.
Provide ongoing architectural review by developing quality processes and artefacts to ensure that new software features and change to existing features are aligned with agreed architecture approach and governance.
Have an appreciation of cyber-security and how to use cloud best practices to secure our platforms as part of the overall architectural design
Ensure that NFRs (usability, reliability, availability, adaptability, manageability, maintainability, performance and security), are met to the standards required
Chair regular Architecture forums, promoting the great work and ideas across technology which are being considered or prototypes developed for consideration.
What You'll Need:

Our Architecture Manager should:

Lead by example, defining Echo’s Vision, Mission and Values
Determine strategic business direction to best meet customers’ evolving needs
Anticipate future trends, issues and challenges and define appropriate response
Be able to demonstrate a broad and deep technical knowledge of the Salesforce platform and architecture, together with associated development languages such as Apex
Have a proven track record in delivering world class architecture solutions within a
large, complex commercial operations
Show experience of delivery within a product vendor setting, preferably within the
utilities sector
Have experience in fostering a continuous improvement culture and able to
Encourage the adoption of leading practices
Strategically and systematically evaluate emerging and longer-term opportunities for and threats to meeting client needs
Handle risk and ambiguity in a complex environment, understanding the external context and adapt accordingly
Have an in-depth knowledge of largescale integration approaches, design patterns and associated security considerations
Use understanding of power relationships among key players to frame communications and develop strategies and alliances
Seek to change culture and methods of operating that are counterproductive to organisational success
Monitor, evaluate and, as needed, renew the customer service model and service standards
Ensure that standards and safeguards are in place to protect Echo’s integrity
Working knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines
Experience in working with DevOps and Agile methodologies
Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle
Experience in the use of Application Release Automation tools
Knowledge of traditional agile methodologies, including Scrum, Waterfall, or Kanban
Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system
Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must, including strong English communications both written and verbal skills to communicate at all levels, including technical/non-technical, internal and external stakeholders and partners of the business
General PC knowledge including Microsoft Office expert level knowledge of Excel, Visio and Project (or equivalents)
Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Degree level qualified or relevant equivalent qualification or experience
Ideally qualified Architect to TOGAF (or similar)
Salesforce Architect level certifications desirable.
