Job Title: Waste Operative (Site Attendant) – x4 Positions

Location: Scunthorpe, DN16
Start Date: 9th July 2025
Duration: Temporary (Approx. 2 months)
Pay: £12.85 per hour
Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:15 PM (37 hours/week)

Job Overview:

We are recruiting 4 reliable Waste Operatives to work on behalf of North Lincolnshire Council. This is a hands-on role supporting local waste and recycling services. You’ll be based primarily at Household Recycling Centres but will also assist with waste collection and at transfer stations.

Main Duties:

Assist the public with disposing of household, industrial, and commercial waste.
Provide recycling advice and guidance to customers.
Support drivers with vehicle manoeuvring on-site.
Operate bin lifting and refuse equipment safely.
Keep the site clean, tidy, and well-organised.
Manage site containers effectively and record waste levels.
Handle cash and issue receipts where required.
Accurately complete and secure paperwork.

Required Skills & Experience:

Manual handling experience.
Ability to walk several miles per day and work outdoors in all weather.
Basic machinery operation (training provided if necessary).
Good local area knowledge.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to deal with the public calmly and professionally.
Reliable, flexible, and a good team player.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience working at a waste facility.
Understanding of environmental permit regulations.
WAMITAB qualification or equivalent.
Certificates to operate a loading shovel or JCB 360 (desirable but not essential).

Working Conditions:

Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Physically demanding – lifting, walking, and manual tasks throughout the shift.
Interaction with the public, which can occasionally be challenging.
