Transport Planner (Nights) - Doncaster

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our clients team in a container transport planning role. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing the movement of containers, ensuring smooth scheduling and effective communication with drivers, ports, and customers. This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to solve problems quickly, and a thorough understanding of logistics operations.

Job type: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday - 18:00-04:00 / 19:00-05:00

Duties & Responsibilities:

Coordinate with multiple drivers and manage their schedules.
Communicate with relevant stakeholders regarding logistics and transportation.
Schedule and book delivery slots for entry at designated locations.
Utilize a transport management system to log driver start and finish times.
Monitor and track driver progress, ensuring timely arrivals.
Adjust routes and schedules as needed based on operational requirements.
Verify that all documentation and records are accurately matched with the correct jobs in the system.
Maintain communication with clients regarding potential delays and provide updated estimates.

Requirements:

Prior experience in a transport coordination or logistics role is essential.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to work a flexible shift pattern, including rotating shifts.
Good knowledge of regional geography and route planning.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Strong problem-solving skills with quick decision-making abilities.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
