The Opportunity

A leading MSP and technology transformation consultancy is seeking a Technical Onboarding Consultant to support the rapid integration of new clients into their services framework. Working across a diverse client base, including finance, education, healthcare, and non-profits, you'll ensure each onboarding journey is executed with care, precision, and technical excellence.

This is a role for a well-rounded IT professional who enjoys hands-on work, customer interaction, and contributing to wider digital transformation initiatives.

About the Role

As a Technical Onboarding Consultant, you’ll play a critical part in assessing new client environments, installing necessary systems and agents, and setting the technical foundation for future delivery. You’ll liaise with internal delivery teams and client stakeholders to capture infrastructure information, spot early-stage issues, and apply best-practice standards from day one.

This role involves both remote and on-site activity, including travel across the UK and occasional trips to Ireland and Spain.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out all standard onboarding tasks such as installing agents, updating system configurations, and applying remote monitoring tools

Perform initial IT estate assessments, identifying gaps in infrastructure, performance, security or compliance

Document systems and configurations thoroughly, including on-site photo capture and asset tagging

Flag risks and propose initial solutions or improvements to be addressed in roadmaps or early-stage workstreams

Collaborate with internal consultants, engineers and project managers to ensure smooth handover and rollout

Support client engagement during the onboarding phase, representing the consultancy with professionalism and clarity

Ensure all client data and infrastructure is aligned with operational, security, and compliance standards from the outset

Projects You May Support

Onboarding new clients with hybrid and cloud-based infrastructures

Deploying remote management agents and configuration tools

Initial audits for Cyber Essentials Plus or infrastructure improvements

Capturing data to support cloud migrations, SharePoint rollouts, or VOIP implementation planning

Building the groundwork for full Microsoft 365 Modern Workplace deployments

Coordinating with overseas clients to conduct remote or on-site onboarding sessions

What We're Looking For

Hands-on IT support or field technician background

Experience with Microsoft 365, cloud environments, networking, and endpoint management

Confident installing agents, applying standard configurations, and capturing asset information

Proactive, process-oriented, and able to spot and escalate technical issues early

Excellent documentation and communication skills

Comfortable with national travel and occasional short trips abroad

Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience with RMM tools, Intune, Entra ID, or Microsoft Defender

Familiarity with onboarding processes in a managed services or consultancy environment

Understanding of Cyber Essentials Plus requirements or infrastructure audits

Prior client-facing IT project work

Microsoft or Fortinet certifications a bonus
