Senior Platform/DevOps Engineer
Stockport – 2-3 days onsite
Up to £80,000

We’re hiring for a senior engineer to design and build a global application deployment platform.

This role is focused on application delivery to thousands of distributed Windows machines — not cloud-native infrastructure, not Kubernetes, and not Windows patching.

The challenge is how applications are packaged, versioned, rolled out, validated, monitored and rolled back safely at scale.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll design and own an application-first deployment model that covers:

  • Packaging and distributing Windows-hosted applications (Windows 10/11 / Server)

  • Version control by site, tenant and location

  • Controlled rollouts (staged releases, canary deployments, validation gates)

  • Zero / near-zero downtime deployments

  • Fast and reliable rollback

  • Visibility of what version is running where

  • Monitoring focused on application health

  • Operating across multiple Azure tenants (with flexibility to recommend AWS or hybrid if appropriate)

  • Designing configuration, identity and policy at scale (currently AD / Group Policy, open to redesign)

  • Supporting distributed, occasionally disconnected environments

    You will design this end-to-end and build it.

    This is senior, hands-on ownership.

    What we’re looking for

  • Experience deploying applications to thousands of machines globally

  • Designed or rebuilt large-scale software distribution / deployment systems

  • Strong automation and CI/CD experience

  • Experience with Windows-hosted production applications

  • Delivered controlled rollouts in operationally sensitive environments

  • Experience working across multiple cloud tenants or regions

  • Comfortable making architectural decisions and standing behind them

    This is about application lifecycle, rollout safety and operational correctness at scale
