Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £50-60K, commensurate with experience + benefits

Nicholas Associates has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to work with an innovative, cutting edge client in Sheffield.

The Role

In this role, reporting to the Engineering Director, you will have technical responsibility for design of plant and packaging into standard shipping containers. We are seeking a candidate with strong CAD and organisational skills to manage the parts and assembly drawings of our client's systems.

Responsibilities

The Senior Design Engineer will be a key member of the technical team. They will be responsible for:

Working with the wider engineering team to develop drawings for containerised systems consisting of individual processing equipment with piping, valves and instruments connecting these units together.
Designing custom parts in CAD for fabrication our of various materials (stainless, glass, ceramics, etc.) and creating specifications of equipment for vendors.
Creating general assembly drawings and bill of material lists for the reactor and balance of plant sub-systems (and integrating supplier drawings into files).
Performing mechanical stress calculations to ensure correct specifications.
Liaising with vendors.
Working with the team to help with mechanical fitting of components (e.g. generation of work instructions).
Ensuring designs and built systems/components are compliant with relevant legislation/standards.Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential requirements:

· A bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Design engineering (or equivalent) or 5 years of experience in a related field.

· Minimum 5 years working in an engineering design environment.

· Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment developing first-of-kind technology.

· Experience in relevant software packages for drawing creation and management (e.g. SolidWorks or AutoCAD 3D).

Desirable qualifications/experience:

· Previous experience working in a start-up.

· Experience working in confined spaces or on containerised designs.

· Experience generating CE/UKCA files.

Preferred skills:

· Strong problem-solving skills, comfortable with cutting-edge technology development.

· Structured/ organised methods of working and file management.

· Pragmatic and detail conscious.

· Adept at writing concise technical documents.

Other details
