The Digital Buildings System Engineer is responsible for onboarding and integrating diverse building management systems (BMS), IoT devices, and facility technologies into cloud platforms.

This platform-agnostic role ensures seamless, secure data integration across hardware and software ecosystems to enable real-time analytics, remote monitoring, and enhanced operational performance.

You will collaborate with global IT, security, networking, and infrastructure teams to deliver IoT and cloud-based solutions across a global office portfolio. Success requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and the ability to make informed decisions in dynamic environments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Cloud Integration & Platform Management



Configure and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for building system integration.

Develop secure data flow pipelines from on-premises systems to cloud environments.

*

Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and align solutions with business objectives.

*

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and data privacy policies.

2. Building Systems Integration

*

Assess and analyze existing BMS, HVAC, lighting, energy, and IoT systems.

*

Map and document system architecture for cloud migration and interoperability.

*

Connect disparate systems regardless of manufacturer or protocol.

*

Conduct system audits and site surveys where required.

3. Device Qualification & Testing

*

Test, validate, and troubleshoot IoT devices, gateways, and application drivers.

*

Manage and maintain devices within an IoT testing lab environment.

*

Collaborate with manufacturers to resolve integration and compliance issues.

*

Support MSIs with deployment and onboarding of compliant cloud-connected solutions.

4. Data Management & Analytics

*

Implement encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms.

*

Ensure data quality, integrity, and preprocessing at edge level where required.

*

Analyze system data to generate insights on performance and sustainability.

*

Prepare reports and dashboards for stakeholders (Apps Script knowledge preferred).

5. Collaboration & Project Delivery

*

Deliver engineering services in accordance with Proposals, SoW, and Engagement Letters.

*

Liaise with IT, facilities, and operations stakeholders globally.

*

Provide technical support and training to on-site teams.

*

Maintain clear documentation of configurations, processes, and onboarding status.

*

Manage workload effectively and escalate risks or issues as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Experience

*

7+ years’ experience in building automation, systems integration, or IT/cloud infrastructure roles.

*

Strong expertise in digital building systems integration and automation technologies.

*

Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for cloud-connected environments.

*

Experience with IP networking (IPv4/IPv6, routing, switching, DHCP, WiFi, structured cabling).

*

Familiarity with edge computing and IoT data preprocessing.

*

Hands-on experience delivering smart building or digital transformation projects.

Education

*

Bachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering or related field.

Preferred (Not Mandatory)

*

Experience with BMS platforms such as Niagara, Delmatic, Delta, or LoRaWAN.

*

Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and related certifications
