Join a fast-growing AI startup transforming a trillion-pound industry through intelligent automation.

We're building the next generation of workflow technology - streamlining complex, manual processes and empowering professionals to focus on the work that truly matters.

If you love solving deep technical problems, shaping architecture, and seeing your code have a real-world impact, this is a chance to build something meaningful from the ground up.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to take ownership of key backend services that power our AI-driven platform.

You'll work closely with product, frontend, and AI teams to design, build, and scale backend systems that handle large-scale data, complex workflows, and real-time interactions.

You'll join a small, high-calibre team where your ideas genuinely shape the direction of the product and the company.

What You'll Be Doing

Architect, design, and build backend applications using Node.js (TypeScript) and NestJS.
Develop microservices and event-driven systems with asynchronous communication patterns.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code (unit + integration).
Design and optimise RESTful APIs with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and security.
Model and query data efficiently with MongoDB (or similar NoSQL databases).
Deploy and manage services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
Troubleshoot and tune performance across distributed systems.
Collaborate in an agile environment, contributing to design reviews, planning sessions, and team discussions.

What We're Looking For

2+ years of professional backend development experience (preferably with Node.js + TypeScript).
Strong grasp of asynchronous programming, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
Solid understanding of testing, CI/CD, and cloud deployment workflows.
Practical experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases.
Problem-solver with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Bonus: experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), observability tooling, or DevOps-style environments.

Why You'll Love It Here

Impact & Ownership - You'll own core backend systems and shape architectural decisions.
Modern Tech Stack - Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, MongoDB, GCP, CI/CD.
Equity + Competitive Salary - Get rewarded for the value you help create.
Collaborative Culture - Work alongside passionate engineers, product thinkers, and AI specialists.
Mission-Driven - Help transform a traditional industry through automation and intelligent systems.
Hybrid Model - Based in London with flexibility to work remotely several days a week.

If you're excited by building elegant systems that make a tangible difference - and want to grow in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment - we'd love to hear from you.
