A high-profile public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Applications Developer to join its digital delivery team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior developer with strong Microsoft Power Platform experience to help drive forward a bold digital vision within a large and progressive local authority environment.
About the Role This position will lead the design, development, and continual improvement of software solutions that enhance user experiences and help deliver better outcomes for both the public and internal teams. You’ll guide a skilled development team and take ownership of delivering accessible, maintainable, and high-performing software products.
You will play a key role in managing products across their full lifecycle — from shaping a strategic product roadmap to ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery. Additionally, you’ll work on projects involving robotic process automation (RPA) and AI capability development.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the delivery and improvement of software components
Write clean, accessible, and reusable code
Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders
Apply best practices in DevOps and agile delivery
Contribute to the development of Power Platform-based solutions
Ensure products are user-focused and meet the highest standardsEssential Skills & Experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant field
Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., PL-100, PL-200, PL-400, PL-600)
Proficiency with Microsoft Power Automate Desktop, Dataverse, and DevOps
Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure services
Familiarity with ALM in Power Platform environments
Coding knowledge in JSON, Power Fx, JavaScript, HTML, and SQL
Experience leading technical teams or mentoring othersDesirable Qualifications & Competencies
Awareness of industry standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO27001, PRINCE2, ITIL)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A user-first mindset with the ability to balance business goals
Continuous professional development aligned to SFIA standardsAdditional Requirements
Must be willing to undergo and pass a DBS check
