Automation Sales Engineer – South of England - Automation Products & Solutions

£55000 - £65000 Neg DOE Plus OTE Car or Allowance, Private Medical & Dental, Life Assurance, Pension. 25 days Holiday. Field Based.

On behalf of our Client we are delighted to offer the above role. This is a superb opportunity for an experienced Regional Sales Engineer, Area Sales Manager / Business Development Manager with probably at least 5 year experience in industrial automation, including edge solutions and an overall knowledge of PLC/HMI/SCADA, programming languages (IEC(phone number removed) along with industrial ethernet, web technologies and IOT. The successful candidate will work independently, field based, identifying and developing their own opportunities, working both directly and via distribution partners, along with supporting other team members where required with your knowledge and expertise. You will have a strong Team mentality, working with other sales team members, product specialists and international colleagues to achieve success with a wider range of products and solutions. This role is a key driver of new business, working alongside experts in automation and connectivity to deliver technically tailored system solutions to a high-value client base. With the freedom to engage clients face-to-face and the support of a deeply knowledgeable technical team, you'll drive substantial value into key industrial markets.

We invite applications from outstanding candidates with proven sales ability and performance in the industrial control & automation market. You are likely to be educated to HNC/HND or Degree level in relevant subject, be highly technically and commercially competent with excellent communication skills and an ability to influence decision makers. You will require knowledge of the markets, customer types in this sector and be able to demonstrate this. The role carries responsibility for a sales target for this product line within the defined territory. Home based but ideally with good access to major road network as national travel will be involved. This is a key role and reports at the most senior level.

Skills summary:

  • At least 5 years industry experience in industrial automation and Edge solution sales.

  • Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent technical qualification.

  • An overall understanding of automation architectures, including PLC programming languages (IEC(phone number removed), Codesys desirable).

  • Principles of visualisation software tools, including thin client deployment and SCADA.

  • An understanding of Industrial Ethernet in modern control networks and factory automation environments, including security routers, Ethernet switches and remote access solutions.

  • Open platform / protocol awareness, with use cases is desirable – Web technologies, OPC UA, Docker, Node Red, MQTT.

  • Well organised with a professional sales approach.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Highly self motivated and disciplined.

  • Logical approach to problem solving.

  • Strong and structured negotiation skills.

  • Good IT skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Powerpoint & Excel)

  • Strong desire to win.

  • The ability to accept and work with change.

  • A proven and successful track record.
