Network Automation Engineer

Role Headlines (6 Month FTC £22.5k)
As a Network Automation Engineer, you will be instrumental in engineering the future of our network through code. You will collaborate with senior network and system engineers to design, build, and maintain the configuration and monitoring that governs our network infrastructure & lifecycle. Your primary focus will be on developing robust automation for provisioning, configuration management, and telemetry gathering, transforming manual tasks into reliable processes. This is a key opportunity to apply your development skills to network engineering, driving stability and scalability through Infrastructure as Code.
Experience Required:
 Strong background in network engineering, with hands-on experience managing and
configuring Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/IOS-XR devices (switching, routing, firewalls) or other vendors such as Juniper.
 Proficiency in Python programming for network automation tasks.
 Understanding of Network Inventory, DCIM tools such as Netbox
 Demonstrable experience with automation/configuration management tools such as
netmiko, PyATS, Ansible or Nornir.
 Solid understanding of network protocols and concepts, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and VPNs.
 Experience using APIs (REST, NETCONF/YANG) to interact with network devices and controllers.
 Familiarity with Linux environments and shell scripting.
 Proficient with version control systems, primarily Git.
Experience Desirable:
 Telco or Service Provider exposure
 Hands-on experience with Passive Optical Network (PON) technologies, including OLTs, ONTs, and provisioning workflows.
 Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) for testing and deploying network automation code.
 Experience with software development best practices, including unit testing and
documentation.
 Familiarity with containerisation technologies like Docker.
 Experience with network monitoring and telemetry solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
