Innovative and successful tech company dedicated to achieving great outcomes, overcoming challenges and assisting learning in education, work and life, for people with additional needs and conditions, seeks Full Stack Software Developer. Operating nationwide from North East headquarters and roots, the business employs nearly 100 people delivering Assistive Technology, training, e-learning, assessments and specialist one-to-one support to people in higher education, work and schools.

As Full Stack Developer you’ll join a team with culture of collaboration, learning and continuous improvement, responsible for developing and maintaining a range of world-class web, desktop and mobile applications hosted in both cloud and on-premises, using Agile development methodology.

Engaging at all points in the development cycle you will ensure features are built using sound engineering principle and patterns. Encouraged you to grow and develop in your role, with support to continuously look at new ways to improve development processes and product quality, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing and maintaining internal software systems (web, desktop and mobile)

  • Delivering end-to-end solutions, from database design to UI implementation, using modern DevOps practices and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.

  • Contributing to and reviewing backlog stories and their acceptance criteria

  • Coding, and QA activities such as testing, code reviewing and unit testing

  • Mentoring junior developers and support team knowledge sharing

  • Build and deploy cross-platform mobile applications for iOS and Android

  • Integrate and manage services on Azure and AWS cloud platforms

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and issues

  • Participation in regular meetings with internal customers

    As Full Stack Software Developer you’ll offer/need:

  • A strong foundation or extensive experience as a highly skilled and versatile Full Stack Developer or similar - both front-end and back-end development, with hands-on experience across a wide range of technologies including C#, PHP, SQL Server, MySQL, mobile development (iOS/Android), and Windows Forms.

  • Understanding of object orientated programming techniques

  • Familiar with applying concepts of Databases, GUIs, REST APIs, Computer Networks and Protocols for application layer integrations.

  • Experience in handling CI/CD pipelines, creating & maintaining the required infrastructure in Azure and AWS.

  • A relevant Computing/Software qualification is desirable

  • Strong knowledge/experience of the Microsoft .Net stack including, C# .Net Framework & Core

  • Working knowledge of T-SQL, LINQ and Entity Framework, Javascript, HTML and CSS, IIS, PHP

  • Hands-on experience in mobile development for iOS and Android (native or hybrid frameworks)

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud platforms

  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases (especially MS SQL)

  • Also desirable – use of Git / Azure Dev Ops, Visual Studio 2019/2022, JQuery, MS Power BI reporting, Linux/Apache web stack, bootstrap front end and sector experience in education

  • Personal qualities: Passion for user experience, design and accessibility - commitment to diversity, inclusion and enabling people to achieve their best; Eagerness to learn with a technical mindset, motivated to build inclusive, high-quality digital experiences; A logical approach to debugging and problem solving, an eagerness to learn with a technical mindset; Accountable, with the ability to work well under pressure, prioritising workload efficiently; Ability to work independently and in/with teams collaborating on Product Design & Development projects; Excellent communication and documentation skills with committed to continuous personal and professional development; Highly motivated, friendly and adaptable.

    Rewards and benefits:

  • Basic salary £32,000 to £35,000 plus generous benefits (life assurance, enhanced pension, healthcare and wellbeing and more)

  • To maximise pay/rewards, you must possess all outlined experience, skills, knowledge and qualifications

  • 30 days holiday plus bank holidays

  • Full time, 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

  • Hybrid working (min. 3 office days) - on-site (South Tyneside) initially, typically to the end of your probationary period
