The Role

You’ll join a small, technically strong team responsible for the configuration, administration, and optimisation of Microsoft Azure and private data centre environments. Acting as a subject matter expert, you’ll ensure services remain secure, scalable, and highly available—supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic projects.

You’ll collaborate with teams across Networking, Security, Modern Workplace, and Software Development to deliver robust, integrated infrastructure solutions that underpin critical business systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, administer, and maintain IT systems and applications across Microsoft Azure and hybrid environments
  • Manage and optimise virtual machines, storage, and networking resources to ensure high performance and uptime
  • Implement Azure services including SSO, Application Gateways, Load Balancers, and hybrid identity solutions (Azure AD Connect)

  • Automate repetitive processes using PowerShell, Terraform, or Azure Automation
  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You’re an experienced Infrastructure or Systems Engineer with a strong technical grounding in Microsoft Azure and hybrid environments. You thrive in complex, high-availability settings and enjoy collaborating across teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure, cloud, or systems engineering
  • Strong knowledge of Azure administration, virtualisation, networking, and identity services
  • Proficiency with PowerShell or similar scripting tools (Terraform, Bicep, Python, etc.)
  • Background in Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and related technologies
  • Experience implementing security best practices in enterprise environments
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator / Solutions Architect) are a plus

Why Apply?

You’ll be joining a forward-thinking organisation where technology investment is a genuine priority. Expect a role with autonomy, modern tooling, and the opportunity to influence the future of the company’s infrastructure landscape.

Why Cloud Computing Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

For many years, cloud computing careers in the UK meant roles for infrastructure specialists, system administrators, network engineers & software developers. Today, the picture looks very different. Cloud has become the backbone of digital transformation across industries — from healthcare to finance, education to government. With that reach comes new expectations. Cloud isn’t just about servers & storage anymore. It’s about handling sensitive data responsibly, meeting regulatory obligations, designing intuitive user experiences, communicating clearly with diverse stakeholders & understanding how people actually interact with complex digital systems. This means cloud careers are increasingly multidisciplinary, requiring expertise in law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design alongside technical skills. In this article, we’ll explore why cloud careers in the UK are broadening, how these five disciplines intersect with cloud work, what it means for job-seekers & employers, and how to future-proof your career in this fast-changing sector.

Cloud Computing Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Cloud Department
