Job Title: Akamai SME - Network Security Engineer
Location: Hybrid (2 Days in office) - London
Contract Duration: 6 Months

About the Role:

We are seeking an Akamai SME - Network Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain network security and content delivery solutions. This role involves managing firewall rules, cloud networking, and security incident responses while ensuring seamless integration of new technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize network security controls and maintain a resilient, customer-focused security posture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Akamai-based content delivery and web security solutions.

  • Configure and manage Akamai Property Manager, Cloudlets, WAF, DataStream, Security Policy, and PKI.

  • Work within a Tech Ops function to support product and data teams, ensuring well-architected cloud networking.

  • Review and implement vendor and internal change requests related to product, data, and application delivery.

  • Provide technical reviews, approvals, and implementations for network-related CI/CD deployments.

  • Develop and maintain network security policies in alignment with IT audit requirements and industry standards (ISO, PCI).

  • Manage escalated network and firewall infrastructure support, including firewall rule-base administration.

  • Maintain and configure LAN and WLAN hardware, ensuring optimal performance.

  • Own and manage network-related tickets, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

  • Oversee DNS management and firewall/LAN-based change implementations.

    Key Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering with ITIL & Agile practices.

  • Expertise in Akamai Kona, WSA, and CDN technologies.

  • Strong knowledge of firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Check Point Security, IPSec, SSL VPN).

  • Experience with SSE / SASE solutions (PAN Prisma Access).

  • Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, FTP, SMTP, VLAN Trunking, OSPF, BGP).

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms (GitHub, Bitbucket).

  • Familiarity with Terraform automation, AWS networking, and well-architected cloud frameworks.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
