Shields Talent is working exclusively with a London-based company seeking a Software Engineer to join their team. Our client, a well-established leader in their industry, is looking for a Software Engineer with between one and five years commercial experience in software development. The successful candidate will be joining a close, friendly and welcoming team. You will have the opportunity to be involved in technical processes and decisions that shape the digital products at this company. You will find that the more experienced members of the team are always keen to help and guide.

Job Details

  • Salary - circa £40k - £50k (Dependent on experience)

  • Permanent full time role

  • Location - London

  • Work conditions - Remote (UK) or Hybrid (London)

  • Access to Vitality Health (Automatic enrolment after 6 month probation)

  • 25 days holiday, plus 3 additional days at Christmas and 8 days bank holiday. Additional days allocated after 5 years’ service

  • Death in service (2x annual salary)

  • Enhanced pension contributions (5% employer)

  • We would also ask that candidates have the right to work in the UK, as this company isn't in a position to offer sponsorship

    Our client is a small but dynamic development outfit, and they own a large and diverse estate of systems. These are built on the latest technologies, and they need software engineers who are flexible and adaptable. Successful applicants will be capable of taking on front-end, back-end and integration work as required, and will be happy to be involved in both brown and green field projects. The job will at times encompass elements of data modelling, infrastructure, DevOps, testing and analysis.

  • A fast learner with a proactive approach

  • Quickly acquires competence with new technologies and tools

  • Has strong communication skills

  • Is flexible and collaborative

  • Has an eye for detail and passion for delivering quality user experiences

    Systems, Technologies and Methodologies

    The ideal candidate will have solid commercial experience of working with most or all of the following:

  • TypeScript

  • Postgres

  • AWS serverless architectures

  • NestJS

  • NextJS

  • React

  • Python

  • Object-oriented programming, data structures, and design patterns

  • Both relational and NoSQL databases
