Senior GCP VDC Network Engineer (Contract)

We’re supporting a large enterprise cloud transformation programme and are looking for a Senior GCP VDC Network Engineer to join a highly skilled public cloud platform team.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, building and automating Google Cloud Platform (GCP) network infrastructure for enterprise-scale workloads in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement GCP VDC network architecture for enterprise workloads

  • Configure and manage VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, routing and VPC peering

  • Deliver hybrid connectivity using Cloud VPN and Interconnect

  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform / Terraform Cloud

  • Automate network provisioning using Python

  • Integrate network builds into CI/CD pipelines

  • Apply GCP Organisation Policies and network security best practices

  • Troubleshoot complex GCP network issues across multiple environments

    Essential Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with GCP Networking

  • Proven delivery of hybrid cloud connectivity

  • Terraform (IaC) for network infrastructure

  • Python scripting for automation

  • CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub)

  • Experience in enterprise or regulated environments

    Desirable

  • GCP Professional Cloud Network Engineer certification

  • Policy-as-code exposure (Sentinel or OPA)

    This role suits a senior-level cloud network engineer who enjoys owning delivery and working closely with platform and security teams.
