Senior GCP Apigee Engineer (Contract)
We’re recruiting an experienced Senior GCP Apigee Engineer for a long-term contract role, supporting large-scale cloud and API platforms in a complex enterprise environment.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on API management, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and modern DevOps practices, working as part of a cross-functional cloud platform team.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and manage APIs using Google Apigee (Apigee X / Hybrid)
  • Develop and deploy API proxies, policies and configurations
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for API lifecycle management (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Harness)
  • Build automation and tooling using Python
  • Apply API security standards including OAuth, JWT, mTLS, rate limiting and threat protection
  • Automate infrastructure and deployments using Terraform / IaC
  • Integrate Apigee with GCP services (GKE, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery)
  • Support API gateway modernisation and legacy API migrations
  • Monitor, optimise and govern APIs for performance, resilience and compliance
    Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Apigee
  • Solid GCP background
  • Proven API Management and API Gateway delivery
  • CI/CD and DevOps experience
  • Python scripting for automation
  • Kubernetes / GKE experience
  • Understanding of API security and governance
    Desirable
  • Terraform or Terraform Cloud
  • Apigee or GCP certifications
  • Experience in regulated or enterprise environments
